FOOD AND BEER ME PLEASE! The Inside Scoop of Food and Beer Bloggers!

#Foodgram #beergram and more!
We're baaaaaaaack!  We have been working on something extra special for ya'll!  A #treatyoself blog about the amazing ladies behind the food and beer pics we see on the GRAM!!  We are giving you an exclusive front row seat into the fascinating world of foodies and beer bloggers.
Like us, we have an obsession with those who blog about food, cocktails, coffee and beer!  We wonder about the angles of how the pics are taken, the amount of naughtiness consumed by these artists, the traveling, the hashtag lists, etc.  These women are influencing us by the THOUSANDS!  They help us experience through their craft what it's like to dine and drink at local joints!  We capture so much through their well thought out posts.  They are so good at what they do, that they make us feel like we are part of the experience.
Here are 5 of our favorite bloggers right now!  A quick Q&A from us asking these ladies all you will want to know about the unique culture of food and beverage blogging!  Enjoy!

@bunsandbites
What got you into doing a food blog/ Foodgram IG?
I started buns and bites as a way to track and share my favorite places to eat in and around Rhode Island. But I wanted to be different, and have something that stood out. So I decided to incorporate body positivity (hence the buns!) which is near and dear to my heart. Buns and Bites works with women of all shapes and sizes, and invites women to love themselves and be happy in their skin.
How do you pick a place to do a post about?
I really only post about places that I personally like! I will typically reach out to a restaurant if I want to come in for photos, but I also have restaurants reaching out to me as well. If I am posting something, I am putting my name on it. And I want my followers to use Buns and Bites as a guide for great eats, so I have to only post the best.
What is normally used to take pics of your amazing posts?!  (iPhone, photographer, mixed?)
Brand image and high quality images are key to Buns and Bites. We work with multiple professional photographers to ensure content that is visually appealing.
If you could eat one thing every day what would that be?
How could I only pick one!? My all time favorite food is pizza. I don't care if it is from the corner store or the number one pie in town, I love it all. But truthfully, I am a sweets person through and through. I would take warm cookies and ice cream every day too!
Foodie bloggers are so influential!  You showcase foods and places many of us have never heard of or tried, we live through you and in your posts, so if someone were to begin a foodie gram account or food blog what advice would you give out?
I would encourage them to find something that they love, and incorporate it! There are tons of food blogs. I think that where Buns and Bites success lies is that there is nothing else quite like it. My advice is to be unique! Be yourself and let that be evident in your work.

What got you into doing a food blog/ Foodgram IG?
I first began my Instagram while studying abroad in Copenhagen and named it @emchaneats.  My initial goals were to share the food I was eating from traveling with my friends and to get reposted on @foodintheair!
One year after moving back to Boston after graduating from college, I changed the handle to @bostonfoodgram to give the Instagram a more regional focus.
How do you pick a place to do a post about?
These days I usually get invited to restaurants by their personal PR team or their associated PR company.  Normally, the restaurants reaching out to influencers are trying to promote a new menu, new concept, or are simply trying to begin a media surge.  However, I will also take photos and post about restaurants that I dine at outside of blogging.
What is normally used to take pics of your amazing posts?!  (iPhone, photographer, mixed?)
I use a Canon Rebel t7i EOS almost 100% of the time.  I will use my iPhone X for stories and rarely a post.  It is my preference to use a DSLR camera because I find that my photos are much more clear and crisp, but I know plenty of influencers who primarily use their phone camera!
If you could eat one thing everyday what would that be?
I LOVE sushi!  More specifically, I am obsessed with any sushi with salmon.  It never gets old!  I had this amazing salmon on fire dish at Typhoon in Back Bay a few months ago and have been dying to go back ever since.
Foodie bloggers are so influential!  You show case foods and places many of us have never heard of or tried, we live through you and in your posts, so if someone were to begin a foodie gram account or food blog what advice would you give out?
If your goal is to grow a following, my most important advice would be to only post high quality and colorful photos fairly consistently!  I prefer indirect natural light for shoots because it really illuminates the food evenly and accentuates all of the colors.  Also, the app Snapseed is incredible.  I use it on every photo I post to brighten the colors and for touch-ups.  To be honest, growing a following on Instagram takes as much work as a second job.  If you are willing to put effort into gathering and posting content and engaging with other food accounts, almost anyone can be the next up and coming food influencer!

What got you into doing a beer blog/ beer IG?
Besides the taste of course, craft beer has always been appealing to me because of the unique aesthetic the whole industry brings to the table. Between the open air industrial chic atmosphere of the breweries, down to the creative packaging and design, I really enjoy the vibe that surrounds the industry as a whole. I'm also a food photographer for Providence Monthly, and as much as I like being behind the camera, I enjoy being in front of it as well. The blog is a perfect way for me to do that, and provides a platform that gives me complete freedom to share my own thoughts and promote businesses I believe in.
How do you pick a place to do a post about?
Because my blog is such a baby (not even a month old), I'm making it a point to start with what (and who) I know. Between my boyfriend and I, we have so many friends and colleagues in the industry that deserve a spotlight. In addition to them, I'm also reaching out to breweries and vendors that I genuinely enjoy. Right now, for example, we have promos in the works with Antonio's Pizza in Pawtucket, RI one of my all time favorites to grab a beer, as well as The Black Duck Tavern, in East Providence, RI owned by the same owners of Comedy Connection which happens to be my boyfriend's home base for his comedy performances. Once the ball starts rolling one connection leads to another and I've already been able to talk to quite a few breweries, vendors, and event organizers that are enthusiastic about the blog.
What is normally used to take pics of your amazing posts?!  (iPhone, photographer, mixed?)
Ideally, I prefer to shoot with a photographer. A good friend of mine Brian Lau, who is the founder of @blau.mediaworks on instagram is my go to photographer and he's also very enthusiastic about craft beer which is a plus. When I don't have Brian, I shoot on my own Sony Alpha 5100 which is a compact mirrorless camera I can take with me anywhere, no problem. In a REAL pinch, I will resort to my iPhone to capture something last minute if I wasn't planning for a shoot. I recently upgraded to the iPhone XR and it is honestly a game changer when it comes to the camera.
If you could choose one style of beer and drink it everyday what would that be?
IPA ALL DAY! IPA's have a special place in my heart, and if you took a look at my Untapp'd account, you would find out very quickly that I am partial to the India Pale Ale. I love the bitterness and the hops, however I'm always searching for an IPA with a relatively low ABV so that I don't have to stop at just one.
Beer bloggers are so influential!  You show case beers and places many of us have never heard of or tried, we live through you and in your posts, so if someone were to begin a foodie gram account or food blog what advice would you give out?
My advice would simply be to follow your stomach and your heart. When you start blogging you'll find that the blog doesn't stop at just the food or the beer. What really becomes the most fulfilling part of it all is the connections you make with the passionate vendors you meet and your supportive audience. Our mission at A Beautiful Brew is stated as such: "to bring the community together, through craft beer, food, and fun." And that really is what it's all about.

What got you into doing a food blog/ Foodgram IG?
I decided to make my food account because one of my friends told me to stop posting pictures of donuts on my regular account (my donut obsession runs deep). But then i also had a back injury that kept me out of the gym and opened up a good 15-18 hours of my week so I figured what the heck, I might as well do something else random with my time. I also secretly wish I was good at photography so it gave me a subject to practice on!
How do you pick a place to do a post about?
I’ve spent a lot of time on instagram saving accounts with donuts that look awesome both in MA and the Northeast and also across the US. If I know I’m traveling somewhere I’ll do some hard recon to make sure I have places to go. Then from there it really comes down to how motivated I am on on the weekend to drive to new places. I like to go to places with unique flavors or places I haven’t been before so I can give some awareness to little known shops!
What is normally used to take pics of your amazing posts?!  (iPhone, photographer, mixed?)
I wish I had some cool camera skills but I just use my iPhone! I’m researching some cameras currently though because I’m ready to step up my game!
If you could eat one thing everyday what would that be?
I am a huuuuuuge charcuterie fan. Like I could live off meats and cheeses. When I’m not trying to eat like a semi responsible adult I eat pita chips, burrata, Brie and prosciutto for days.
Foodie bloggers are so influential!  You show case foods and places many of us have never heard of or tried, we live through you and in your posts, so if someone were to begin a foodie gram account or food blog what advice would you give out?
My advice would be pick something you’re passionate about and don’t just go into it looking for free food. There are nine million general food accounts from Boston. The ones that stand out are the ones that are posting unique photos or have a niche like drinks, cookies, pizza, brunch, etc.

What got you into doing a food blog/ Foodgram IG?

I've never been a big cook but have always LOVED going out to eat and trying new places. I’d constantly get asked for recommendations when posting food pictures on my personal Instagram, and after seeing all of the positive reactions from people, I thought it was about time to take the next step and create an IG entirely dedicated to it. My best friend helped me come up with the name Boston Foodie with a Booty and the rest is history…

How do you pick a place to do a post about?

A lot of places will reach out to me via Instagram and invite me to come in but otherwise I have a Boston restaurant list that I've been working on for a couple of years now. It's an intense Excel sheet that's color coded and everything by location and meal type (OCD at its finest!).

What is normally used to take pics of your amazing posts?!  (iPhone, photographer, mixed?)

Just me and my iPhone!

If you could eat one thing every day what would that be?

Ooooof that's so hard because I'm the opposite of a picky eater and literally love everything! I'd probably have to go with either sushi (because I don't think I'd ever get sick of it) or pad Thai (I have a crazy obsession…)

Foodie bloggers are super influential!  You show case foods and places many of us have never heard of or tried, we live through you and in your posts.  If someone were to begin a foodie gram account or food blog what would be your advice?

Just have fun with it! Sometimes I feel like there's pressure to post a certain amount, or go to every single foodie event you're invited to. I'm by no means perfect when it comes to the unspoken rules of being a food blogger but the goal of my Instagram has always been to share the food I love with people who appreciate it as much as I do. When you start to stress it just takes away from the enjoyment of that!

This was so much fun!  We hope you enjoyed the read!  Please follow these bad asses which their IG handles are shown below their pictures!  Better yet, if you visit any of the places they have posted about!  TAG THEM!

We thank each and everyone of these talented ladies for participating in our blog this week.  We are humbled and beyond appreciative having the opportunity to shine more light on their art!
